Helen Crossland features in The Times

On 19 March 2025, the UK Government began a consultation exploring required ethnicity and disability pay gap reporting for businesses with more than 250 employees. Employment partner Helen Crossland features in The Times discussing what such pay gap reporting could mean for employers should it be introduced.

Helen explores potential challenges businesses could face in the proposals, commenting: “an immediate concern about this proposal is not only that it will create additional burdens on large employers, but that there will be issues around the accuracy of the data that can be processed and reported. […] The combination of how data shortcomings will be overcome, as well as how rigorous businesses are in terms of reporting, will be imperative to the success of the worthy ambition to increase transparency, monitor where discriminatory practices might be in operation and support initiatives to tackle pay disparities.”
