Philip Kratz features in Property Week

Philip Kratz, Consultant Solicitor and Head of Planning, was featured in Property Week sharing his insights about the current UK land market and the Government’s plan to create a new public register showing developer control of land.

Philip commented in the article: “Although at face value these provisions reflect the 2023 study by the Competition and Markets Authority, which found that volume housebuilders had secured land which could provide up to 658,000 homes, they are an answer to a problem about which nobody has complained, and as with previous studies, the true picture is more nuanced.”

“The same study found that these arrangements were not distorting the market but were largely a result of concerns about inherent delays and uncertainties in the planning system. The initiative, coupled with delays at HM Land Registry, is likely to simply add another layer of bureaucracy to an industry which is already burdened by layers of regulatory control.”
