Frances Murray comments in Law360 on proposals to increase accountability for online fraud offences

Frances Murray, Head of Financial Crime, was recently featured in Law360 commenting on a proposal raised in a recent Home Office review, Fraud in the Digital Age, that would hold online platforms criminally liable for fraud committed on their sites.

Commenting on the proposal, Frances said: “Any new criminal offense would have to be approached with caution. There is a real risk that liability could become detached from individual culpability, with platforms facing enforcement action for the criminal actions of users rather than their own wrongdoing.”
