What is clinical negligence?

Clinical negligence occurs when a healthcare professional or medical provider fails to meet the required standard of care, resulting in injury, harm or worsening medical outcomes.

How long do I have to bring a claim?

In most cases, you have three years from the date of the negligence or from when you became aware of it. Different rules may apply for children and individuals lacking capacity.

What compensation can I claim?

Compensation may cover pain and suffering, loss of earnings, future care costs, rehabilitation, medical expenses and other financial losses caused by negligence.

Will my claim go to court?

Many clinical negligence claims are resolved through negotiation and settlement. Court proceedings are only pursued where necessary to secure fair compensation.

How is a claim funded?
