Lara Nyman Features in The Guardian

Real Estate Dispute Resolution Partner Lara Nyman assists a reader with a dispute over a property transaction. In The Guardian article, Lara discusses the issue, “My father was fined for parking in a reserved space for which he had paid £2,000.”

The reader writes that after purchasing a flat, as well as a parking space in the development, it transpires the parking space was omitted from the lease, as the estate agent did not include it in the memorandum of sale sent to the conveyancing solicitor.

Lara discusses where the responsibility lies, and explains that the phrase caveat emptor (buyer beware) underlies any purchase, especially when buying off-plan. She reiterates her hope that this will serve as a warning to all of us never to take contracts on trust.
