Seddons – now Seddons GSC – has advised private investment company Capricorn Capital on its investment in Level, an FCA-regulated non-bank lender. Level raised 105m in a combination of equity from Capricorn Capital and a senior secured facility from Pollen Street Capital.
Level was launched in 2017 and has since provided more than 175m in funding to over 1600 clients for family and probate proceedings. The value of Level’s lending book has increased by 71% in the past financial year and expects further growth in the value of funds it lends to clients with this latest funding.
The Seddons team advised Capricorn on all corporate and finance elements of the transaction and was led by corporate partner Ilan Kotkis with assistance from associate Libby Morris.
CEO of Capricorn Capital, Robert Gottlieb, said: “Our team has known Level for years and understands the company’s role in such a rapidly growing market. We knew from the start Level presented a compelling investment opportunity. Our legal team at Seddons led an efficient and seamless process and we were very pleased to conclude this transaction smoothly. We can now focus on the exciting work ahead of collaborating with Level’s executive team to realise the company’s full potential.”
Seddons’ corporate team regularly advises on matters such as mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, equity investments and corporate reorganisations. The team works with clients ranging from start-up businesses and successful entrepreneurs, through to established public and private companies, foreign multinationals and their UK subsidiaries, family businesses, private equity firms and venture capitalists.
