Michael Shapiro

Chartered Legal Executive, Partner

Background & Biography

Michael took an unconventional path to partnership, starting as an office junior in 1988 before becoming an outdoor clerk—spending hours queuing at court to deliver documents. His curiosity led him to read those documents, sparking a passion for law. He became a partner in 2013 and an equity partner in 2017.

Clients value Michael’s honesty, direct approach, and creative problem-solving. “I don’t make promises I can’t fulfil,” he says. “My clients appreciate that—I’m real. They also know I like to win.” That determination has led him to victories in the Court of Appeal, FTT, STT, and the Supreme Court, including the landmark Daejan v Benson & Others case.

“No one wants to litigate,” Michael acknowledges, “but I build long-term client relationships. Even if they don’t need litigation again, I want SeddonsGSC to be their first choice for all legal matters.”

Recognised for his excellence in commercial litigation, Michael is featured in the prestigious CityWealth Leaders List, a directory of top professionals.
