Stephen Jones

Partner & Head of Construction

Background & Biography

Stephen Jones has specialised in construction law for 15 years, handling both contentious and non-contentious matters. His experience includes high-value, multi-party litigation and professional indemnity claims. Since joining the firm, he handles claimant/defendant work, from negotiating contracts with architects and engineers to resolving disputes over project delays and construction defects.

“I find construction projects fascinating,” Stephen says. “I work with commercially switched-on clients investing significant sums, which creates a dynamic legal market. Much of the law from the Technology and Construction Court influences other areas of law, making this field even more engaging.”

Clients appreciate Stephen’s commercially pragmatic approach. “A realistic resolution is often the least costly and least risky option compared to court disputes,” he notes. “I aim to find solutions that make business sense.”

Stephen holds a degree from Durham University, a Master of Laws from the University of Bristol, and completed the Legal Practice Course at Cardiff University in 2001. He honed his expertise at RadcliffesLeBrasseur, Berrymans Lace Mawer, DAC Beachcroft, and Beale & Company, with a secondment at Zurich Insurance.

Outside of work, Stephen is a keen golfer and enjoys international rugby—especially when Wales plays well.
