Saleem Sheikh comments on transaction taxes in the property market in EPrivateClient

In an article by EPrivateClient exploring what measures the private wealth sector would want from the new UK Government, Senior Partner Saleem Sheikh recommended that, to support the property market, the government should adopt a “more straightforward approach” to transaction taxes to improve market liquidity.

According to Saleem, this can make it easier for people to move house while encouraging investment across residential and commercial real estate.

“Ultimately, growth is driven by confidence,” he said. “When businesses and investors understand the rules and trust that they will remain consistent over the long-term, they are far more likely to invest, create jobs, and support economic expansion.”
